This branch of education became a college in itself called the School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education now called the ‘Delhi University School of Open Learning’ (DUSOL).
In its first year of establishment itself DUSOL admitted 900 students in various courses it offers in distance learning. The norms being followed by the School of Open Learning (SOL) are governed by DU and therefore, the degrees awarded to the students are from DU itself. SOL has a Personal Contact Program too wherein students are given lectures and their doubts are cleared at the study centres. Those study centres are located in South, East and West part of New Delhi.

There are huge libraries too at the institution in South and North campuses for students to refer to books. No difference has been seen in the course curriculum of the students studying in SOL and other colleges of DU. Today DUSOL is one of the best institutions of distance learning and students yearn to get admission here.
