New IRCTC ticket cancellation charges and refunds

From 12th November 2015 the Indian railways has significantly changed rail ticket cancellation and refunds rules in track with increased online booking options and to reduce touts and middlemen in ticket reservation system to benefit genuine travellers. The move is to make cancellations more convenient to passengers and end black-marketing of tickets. The cancellation charges are nearly double the previous cancellation charges and time limits have also been changed to discourage bulk bookings by travel agents and touts who try to sell it in the black market for higher charges or just cancel them if there are no takers .
