These rules are in effect from 12th November 2015
Charges for cancellation of e-tickets before 48 hours of train departure

[hana-code-insert name=’large rectangle’ /]Charges for a confirmed first a.c or executive class ticket are Rs 240, 2nd a.c / first class Rs 200, a.c 3 tier, A.c chair car are Rs 180, for second sleeper class Rs 120 and Rs 60 for second class ticket. These are the charges if the ticket is being cancelled more than 48 hours prior to the train’s departure timings.

25% of ticket cost or charges mentioned above whichever is higher

Confirmed ticket cancellation charges between 12 hours and 4 hours before train departure

50% of ticket cost or charges mentioned above whichever is higher

Confirmed ticket cancellation charges 4 hours before train departure and there after

no refunds

Charges of cancellation of a tatkal e- ticket

The above mentioned charges are applicable for tatkal tickets also. Tatkal charges are not refunded

Charges for cancellation of an e-ticket in the case of cancellation of the train

If the train is cancelled due to any unforeseen reasons full refund of the amount will be done automatically for all tickets booked online

[hana-code-insert name=’large rectangle’ /]From 12th November 2015 the Indian railways has significantly changed rail ticket cancellation and refunds rules in track with increased online booking options and to reduce touts and middlemen in ticket reservation system to benefit genuine travellers. The move is to make cancellations more convenient to passengers and end black-marketing of tickets. The cancellation charges are nearly double the previous cancellation charges and time limits have also been changed to discourage bulk bookings by travel agents and touts who try to sell it in the black market for higher charges or just cancel them if there are no takers .

Train chart preparation time

First Chart will be made 4 hours before train departure and second chart will be made 30 minutes before departure of train. Train ticket can be booked up to 30 minutes before departure of train.
